Inspiration
My inspiration came from walks to the local supermarket along McLeod Creek trail in Park City, Utah (where we enjoy summers) - it is stunning. Mountain views, aspen trees bathed in sunshine makes me feel very happy.
Aspen trunks have destinctive markings which appear like ‘eyes’ looking back at you. I wanted to suggest this subtly in my work. Their leaves change colour, waft and rustle in the breeze. Whilst I did not want to have yellow in my work (otherwise it would start to look like a ‘rainbow’ piece!), I was able to find a green varigated silk ribbon from Stef Francis. By stitching in detatched chain stitch over the top I was able to create a pleasing effect.
